WHEN DOES THE HUMAN ORGANISM BECOME A LIVING SOUL, A LIVING PERSON?

The question in the title of this article has been pondered for ages since the first man, Adam, was placed upon the earth and was given the power and the instruction (with Eve, his wife) to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:27-28). There is a verse (Genesis 2:7) that is very interesting in that it states that “…God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT ADAM BECAME A LIVING SOUL OR A PERSON AFTER THE BREATH OF LIFE WAS GIVEN HIM BY GOD, NOT WHEN HE RECEIVED THE BREATH OF LIFE. We now have many cases in our hospitals where many humans may have the breath of life, but are not living souls or people. They seem to be brain dead but are yet breathing. Persons in the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease, for example, seem to have lost almost all of their awareness capability and regress to earlier and earlier stages of life in their minds until there is nothing left. THEY CEASE TO BE PERSONS, BUT ARE JUST LIVING, BREATHING ORGANISMS UNTIL THE BREATH OF LIFE LEAVES THEM. They no longer seem to be “living souls.” Some of us have been in the unenviable position of having to tell doctors not to provide any more life support measures to those with life, but are no longer “living souls.” When God created Adam and when He created Eve, it appears that they were living organisms with the breath of life, but became living souls later–when, we do not know. That was God’s business which He is not revealing to us. If we from the Bible look at three other cases for Jeremiah, John the Baptist, and Jesus, we might ask, “When did they become living souls in their living flesh?”

FRIENDS WITH JESUS, OR JUST ACQUAINTANCES AND SERVANTS OF JESUS?

SCRIPTURES: JOHN 11:11b; 15:13-15

JOHN 11

11b …Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

JOHN 15

13. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

HAS ANYONE EVER BEEN JUST ACQUAINTED WITH ANOTHER?

1. Acquaintances recognize each other–but may not remember each other’s
names at times.
2. Acquaintances speak to each other, and may share superficial things.
3. Acquaintances are almost always polite to each other and show respect one to the other.
4. Acquaintances may at times work on the same projects, do some things together, but not very often –not regularly.
5. Acquaintances don’t usually seek each other out unless for some personal gain or advantage.

Forgiving One Another

<Dear Members and Friends:

True forgiveness of a person is important in Christianity. From the prayer Jesus taught his disciples and us, we find:

MATTHEW 6
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

We also find something about how a person may get tired of forgiving the same person over and over from a question Peter asked Jesus as given below:

MATTHEW 18

21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
